Description
This programme is generously supported by HKEX Charity Partnership Programme.
Description:
In this session, we aim to train volunteers to lead hands-on, board game-based service sessions for the elderly and young children at our partner NGO centers. These sessions use the power of play to create fun, structured opportunities for social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and skill-building in areas such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. Furthermore, these innovative board game workshops foster social connections, language development, creativity, and confidence in young participants.
Your Role:
Volunteers will receive professional training in facilitating board games for seniors, as well as English board game activities and storytelling sessions for children. Training includes selecting age-appropriate games, explaining rules clearly, and engaging participants through interactive play. These transferable skills are essential for building rapport with individuals across different age groups while fostering a supportive environment that enhances language development, confidence, and social interaction.
Opportunities After the Workshop:
Upon completing the training, volunteers can serve at local community centers, applying their newly acquired skills in real-world settings while making a meaningful impact. Following the information session, a follow-up email will be sent to volunteers with details on how to complete their registration for service sessions.
Remarks:
All volunteers must be registered with HandsOn Hong Kong. Friends or family members who wish to join are warmly welcome—please ensure that each person registers and signs up separately.
