Be a Cooking Class Buddy for People with Special Needs

Description: LOVE 21 is a charity dedicated to bettering the lives of those living with Down syndrome and autism in Hong Kong through physical activity and nutrition. They run a variety of sport and exercise classes, a health and nutrition programme, and guardian counselling and workshops. Volunteer roles: - Partner with one participant, and help the participant follow the cooking instructions step-by-step - Encourage participants to attempt tasks independently while providing guidance. - Offer positive constructive feedback to motivate participants throughout the cooking process. - Keep track of participants’ progress and provide additional assistance as needed to ensure they stay on task. - Help the participant communicate with the instructor if needed. - Monitor the kitchen environment to ensure safety Remarks: - Arrive at the venue 5 minutes before the workshop for the briefing - Volunteers can try the dish together - Volunteers need to be comfortable in basic food preparation - cutting ingredients All volunteers who attend this activity must be registered with HandsOn Hong Kong. If you wish to have a friend or family member join you on this activity, they must first register with HandsOn and sign up for the activity.
