Description
Programme Description:
Children in Hong Kong spend four to six hours a day on electronic devices, way above the two-hour cap set by health authorities. The addictive use of e-gadgets reduces their social interaction and hinders socio-emotional development. With children owning an overwhelming number of toys – an average of 71 items – their ability to develop essential qualities and skills can be threatened.
This upcycling workshop promotes quality play time and encourages kids to cherish unused items by transforming carton boxes, buttons and more into eco-friendly toys. Volunteers will guide students through the creative process and assist them to use powered and handheld tools. The experience produces play resources such as arcade, claw and miniature novelty toys to connect the two generations and promote appreciation for our resources.
