Clean up living spaces for seniors in Central

Description: With Lunar New Year just around the corner, join us in spreading festive warmth by helping elderly residents in our community get their homes ready for the celebrations! Many of these seniors, including those living in tenement buildings, need a helping hand with household cleaning—your support can make a real difference and ease the burden on their carers. The elderly centre will provide all cleaning supplies so that volunteers can focus on carrying out simple yet meaningful household cleaning tasks for elderly residents in the Central and Western District. Before the service day, centre staff will visit each elderly resident to assess their needs and identify suitable cleaning tasks in line with volunteers’ abilities. Volunteers will also receive an illustrated guide to help them prepare for the activity. Working in pairs, volunteers will visit a total of eight elderly households. To ensure smooth communication, each pair should include at least one volunteer who can speak fluent Cantonese. Volunteer schedule: 1:00 pm – 1:30 pm Briefing 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm Training on cleaning procedures 2:30 pm – 5:00 pm Household cleaning for elderly residents Remarks: Volunteers will not take part in hazardous cleaning tasks such as cleaning exterior windows. Volunteers will mainly assist with areas that are difficult for the elderly to manage, such as cupboards and kitchens. Tasks will not include cleaning toilets or removing electrical appliances and utensils. All volunteers must be registered with HandsOn Hong Kong. Friends or family members who wish to join are warmly welcome—please ensure that each person registers and signs up separately.
