Description
Description: Join us for the Cedar Workshop volunteer briefing session, where you’ll learn how to support a meaningful community performance that empowers visually impaired musicians to showcase their talents and connect with the public. Cedar Workshop is the social enterprise of Ebenezer School & Home for the Visually Impaired. It aims to create employment opportunities for people with visual impairment so they can support themselves and promote social inclusion. Cedar Workshop will arrange for different visually impaired musicians to perform at restaurants across Hong Kong. Volunteers are needed to escort and support the visually impaired musicians on site. Through these activities, talented visually impaired people can contribute to society. We’re now recruiting enthusiastic volunteers to attend this compulsory in-person briefing and prepare for the upcoming event. You will learn the essential escorting skills for people with visual impairments. Your support will help ensure the performance runs smoothly and that the musicians receive caring, practical assistance throughout the day. To confirm your spot and learn more about your role, you MUST attend the briefing session on Monday, 12 May 2025, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the HandsOn Office, and be available to support the events after the briefing. Volunteer Role on the Event Day: Escort the visually impaired musician to the performance venue. Depending on the musician, volunteers may need to meet them at the MTR station or a designated bus stop and guide them to the venue. Help set up the electric keyboard properly, take photos or videos during the performance, guide them to the restroom location if needed, and help them collect food midway through the performance. After the performance, volunteers must restore the keyboard or other musical equipment properly and escort the musician back to the designated bus stop or MTR station. Event days will be on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays (11:30 am - 2:30 pm). The centre staff will share the event schedule with volunteers later. Remarks: Volunteers should be fluent in Cantonese. Volunteers must attend the in-person briefing session on May 12th. Registration deadline: 30 April 2026. All volunteers must be registered with HandsOn Hong Kong. Friends or family members who wish to join are warmly welcome—please ensure that each person registers and signs up separately.
