Help Out with Beach Cleaning in Chi Ma Wan

Description: Plastic Free Seas and DB Green are cohosting a community beach cleanup. Gloves and bags will be provided. What to bring and wear: - Mask (we suggest a reusable one) - Plenty of water in a reusable water bottle (2 litres of water per person) - A hat ​- Closed-toe shoes (no flip flops or sandals) - Light comfortable clothing - A raincoat if rain is expected - Sun protection - Bug spray Reusable gloves and bags will be provided. Remarks: Experienced staff will be on hand to make this an interesting and educational experience for volunteers. There are no toilets or shops at the pier or on the beach. The closest toilet is at Shap Long. Volunteers are expected to refrain from bringing single-use items to the beach such as disposable plastic bottles and rain coats, etc. Schedule: ​1.30 - 2.00: Volunteers will first gather at Tung Chung MTR station and take the bus organised by HandsOn together. Bus from Tung Chung to Chi Ma Wan 2.00 - 2.15: Walk to the beach 2.15 - 2.30: Briefing and hand out gloves and bags 2.30 - 4.00: Cleanup 4.00 - 4.15: Debriefing 4.15 - 4.30: Walk to bus 4.30 - 5.00: HandsOn will arrange the bus for volunteers to travel from Chi Ma Wan to Tung Chung​ Please be reminded that volunteers cannot bring along a friend or family member who did not sign up for this event on the day. All volunteers must sign up for the session through this link. Volunteers who would like to register for their children and youth, please have them sign up here. Children under 15 years must be accompanied by an adult for this program. We recommend this activity for children 11 and up. Please note this activity is only open to individuals.
