Description
Description:
As Hong Kong’s population ages, many senior residents face the challenge of living in aging homes with deteriorating conditions. With the number of people aged 65 and older projected to rise significantly, there's a growing need to ensure homes are safe and suitable for our elderly.
Habitat for Humanity addresses this issue through our "Ageing-in-Place" project. They collaborate with a network of community organizations and home repair experts to help more elderly people live in age-friendly homes.
They are now seeking volunteers to support their "Ageing-in-Place" Programme. As a volunteer, you will connect directly with senior residents in public housing who have already benefited, or will soon benefit, from their services. Your visits and conversations will help the organization better understand their needs, all while offering them a valuable sense of care and community.
Volunteer Roles:
Visiting and engaging with elderly residents in their homes to understand their needs and provide a friendly, supportive presence.
Learning about "Ageing-in-Place" programme and its home safety assessment services.
Understand the housing needs of seniors in their communities.
Sharing practical knowledge that can enhance their quality of life.
All volunteers who attend this activity must be registered with HandsOn Hong Kong. If you wish to have a friend or family member join you on this activity, they must first register with HandsOn and sign up for the activity.
