環保署於2022年2月10日公布《香港固體廢物監察報告》，揭示2021年塑膠棄置量估算為每日2,312公噸，其中膠袋棄置量最多，每日平均棄置804公噸（佔塑料棄置量35%）；其次是塑膠或發泡膠餐具（佔塑料棄置量12%），每日平均棄置266公噸，即棄餐具不易回收，亦不會在自然界自行消失，只會分裂成微塑膠，為環境帶來沉重負擔。政府最快於 2023 年第四季實施首階段管制即棄膠餐具及其他塑膠產品，早點養成自備容器及餐具的習慣吧！你我都自備餐具的話每年更可減少近3.5公斤的二氧化碳排放！
