Date & Time: 13 July 2026 (Monday) | 12:45 – 16:00 Meeting Point: 12:45 at Kam Tin MTR Station Exit C (in front of Station Control Room) Partners: HKSYU Service Stars, Department of Counselling and Psychology (HKSYU), Social Career, HKSCDA Target: Aged 18 or above (Language: Cantonese) Guest Speakers: Dr. Ngai Tsz Kin (Assistant Professor, Department of Counselling and Psychology, HKSYU) Mr. Mak Kwan Wong (Committee Member, Asian Professional Counselling and Psychology Association) 🐾 Programme Overview To promote animal welfare and human-animal harmony, HKSYU Service Stars and the Department of Counselling and Psychology are recruiting volunteers to support a local animal shelter in Kam Tin. This program serves as an experiential learning journey in life education. Volunteers will participate in a hands-on cleanup of indoor and outdoor shelter areas (washing floors, windows, and gates) to create a clean, comfortable environment for stray and abandoned dogs. ♥️ Programme Highlights Integrating psychological insights with life education, the program includes a guided shelter tour and key activities: Through this unique experience blending physical service with cognitive reflection, participants will learn to respond to the needs of living beings with respect, putting the concept of "One Welfare"—the interconnected well-being of humans, animals, and the community—into practice.

  • 12:45 – 13:00 | Arrival & Check-in Gather at Kam Tin MTR Station Exit C (Station Control Room); travel to the shelter. 13:00 – 13:30 | Briefing & Life Education Intro Introduction to human-animal harmony, life education, and volunteer safety guidelines. 13:30 – 15:00 | Shelter Cleanup Hands-on cleaning of indoor and outdoor shelter areas (floors, windows, and doors) with short breaks. 15:00 – 15:40 | Animal Interaction & Adoption Promotion Guided shelter tour, positive reinforcement training with the dogs, and capturing media for adoption promotion. 15:40 – 16:00 | Reflection, Sharing & Dismissal Debriefing session on responsible adoption, experiential reflections, and dismissal.
