Accompanying the Elderly in a Chinese New Year Handicraft Workshop: Preserved Flower and Lucky Cat Glass Globe Description The "Generation Connect Program" provides a Chinese New Year Handicraft Workshop experience for the elderly, aimed at fostering interaction between volunteers and elderly participants. Handicraft activities allow the elderly to focus on the creative process, reducing stress and enhancing their mental well-being. Volunteers will actively engage with the elderly, collaborating to complete their projects together and fostering a supportive atmosphere within the community. Volunteer Roles -Welcome the elderly when they arrive and assist them in taking their seats. -Each participant will receive a set of materials, but they first need to assist the elderly in completing their product. -Actively engage in conversation with the elderly to enjoy the activity together. Schedule -Volunteer briefing (15 minutes) -Welcoming and seating the elderly participants (15 minutes) -Terrarium-making activity (60 minminutes) -Summary and group photo (15 minutes) -Volunteer debriefing (15 minutes) This activity welcomes families to sign up.The guardian should sign up to this activity (after registering with HandsOn Hong Kong) and then (1) sign up your child to the activity (after registering with HandsOn Hong Kong) or (2) send an email to hohk@handsonhongkong.org. Please note the minimum age for a child to join is above 6. All volunteers who attend this activity must be registered with HandsOn Hong Kong. If you wish to have a friend or family member join you on this activity, they must first register with HandsOn and sign up for activity.
