備註
  • CHAT (Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile)’s Accessibility Docent Training Programme trains Deaf, hard-of-hearing and hearing individuals to collaboratively lead unique museum experiences. Centred around a sign bilingual design, it prepares participants to deliver interactive and multisensory museum tours in Hong Kong Sign Language and Cantonese. In 2025, the programme received the ICOM-CECA Best Practice Award, which recognises exceptional museum education programmes globally. In this year’s edition, participants will learn to utilise the expressive characteristics of Hong Kong Sign Language to craft engaging museum experiences for visitors. The training is developed and led by local and international museum professionals and researchers in sign language and deaf education. By the end of the training, participants will be able to confidently share the joy of exploring textiles while advocating for inclusivity and diversity.Application is open to all hearing, hard-of-hearing and Deaf individuals until 16 March 2026. The programme will take place from April 2026 to March 2027, with two trainings and a group assessment. Participants who successfully complete the training programme will become Accessibility Docents and lead Accessibility Tours from June 2026 to March 2027. CHAT will provide trainings for the docents on 30 April 2026 and 8 May 2026 from 7:30pm to 9:30pm at CHAT. All docents must attend the two training sessions. The trainings include Deaf and Hearing Collaboration Practice and Demonstration and sharing by experienced Accessibility Docents. The CHAT team will individually invite shortlisted candidates for interviews from March to April 2026. Selected candidates must attend the training. After completing the training, they are required to pass a group assessment in May to ensure service quality.
